Oof. First time this happened in German history. He’ll probably get voted in in the 2nd or 3rd vote, but this sure sets the tone for the new government.

They talked much shit about how Ukraine treated POWs but was completely silent about how Russia treated Ukrainian POWs
Russian authorities have subjected Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) and civilian captives to torture, prolonged incommunicado detention, enforced disappearance and other inhumane treatment, which amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, Amnesty International said in a new report today.
So the organization that regularly publishes reports on Russian warcrimes (Example) is bought by Russians. Uh-huh…
So because they criticized the wrong military that one time, we don’t have to care about political prisoners in Bhutan? Convenient.
So far I haven’t noticed prices actually going down on Aliexpress etc - at least not for the things I’m looking to buy.
This is an English-language community btw.
Let’s see how our European governments will handle this new reality first. Could end up being good or bad for us depending on how they act.
It will have an effect on other countries, but fuck up the US economy the worst. Other countries have the benefit of having 190+ other countries to do trade with. Over the next few years, they will increasingly go for alternatives to whatever they’ve previously traded with the US. Thanks to the stable genius, the US will permanently be left poorer, while other countries will soon have economic growth again.
Recently bought “Drova: Forsaken Kin”. Basically a Gothic-like in 2D. Runs and controls great on the Deck.
IMO this is way better. Being denied would have given them a great opportunity to complain about “the Danish government suppressing the will of the Greenlandic people to join the US”. The fact that they can come but noone there likes them is so much more devastating for their narrative.
Yeah, that’s what I had in mind as well. Of course there would be no voting with vetos over a nuclear strike. It would be an immediate response to a nuclear launch towards our territory, nothing else. There shouldn’t ever be an option for a first strike in my opinion.
No. If anything, EU nukes could be something to consider. But I don’t see why Germany specifically should have them. That might lead to calls for every other European country to get them too and that could just as easily be a security risk as an advantage, with single countries possibly “going rogue”, like Hungary. In the hands of the EU they should be fairly safe.
China is a supporter of China. They’ll readily drop Russia in a heartbeat if the advantages outweigh the advantages of supporting them (cheap oil and gas). I don’t think they ideologically care about supporting Russia. Historically, the relations between them were never very good.
It’s insane, but the US might be more aligned with Russia now than China is. I’ve been thinking for the last few months that China is really in a position to gain quite a lot of soft power and geopolitical clout if they present themselves as a sane alternative to the US in the Ukraine negotiations. But Europe should be very careful, as China will only have its own interest in mind.
Trump made it pretty clear he’d never bother defending Europe, so the deterrence value of their weapons on European soil is zero. If anything, they could be used as a deterrent against Europe to not get involved if the US attacks Greenland or Canada. So no, I don’t think it would be a good move.
Yeah, as much as I’d love to see some of the national parks, I’ll never travel there unless their entry procedures and government change fundamentally. Plenty of other countries to visit.
It’s not shielded properly, so the surrounding electronics cause crackles, buzzing and similar noise. AFAIK this was the case for all OLED models on launch. Might be fixed for newer ones, I’m not sure. Apparently it can be fixed by opening the Deck and sticking on some eletric insulation tape.
I mostly use the built-in speakers. Sometimes my IEMs, using a USB-C dongle as my OLED’s headphone jack is pretty noisy (I know it’s easy to fix, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet).
Probably buying Cult of the Lamb. Waiting to get my OLED Deck first though, still only at “packaged”. :/
Played a bit of it. It works quite well on a gamepad. You control the characters (initially just one, but pretty sure you’ll get a crew later) directly with the analog stick. It’s nothing like a traditional RTS, more of a strategic stealth game.
