the obvious thing to me is just treating linux as the primary platform and treating windows like everyone else treats linux.
“yeah sure you can run it on windows if you want, try WSL or something i guess. good luck!”
is everyone forgetting that they made half life alyx? valve hasn’t lost their edge, they just operate on doing things they want to do, and they don’t want to make “half life 2 episode 15”
won’t somebody think of those poor poor shareholders
honestly i kinda like that approach, the devs don’t want shit code in the main codebase, but hey they can fart it out in a week so might as well provide it to those who want to use it anyways!
Mmm i wouldn’t go that far on most devices, most of the time that would result in unsatisfying runtime.
however for devices where they can easily run days on a charge, yeah it makes sense. My xiaomi smartwatch gets 6 fucking days on 70% charge with quite a lot of power-drawing features enabled, so there’s really no reason to ever charge it above 80%.
But on my phone i very much need to be able to charge it to 100% before travelling, it only gets like 16h with the screen off on a full charge.
this really should just be a bog standard feature on all devices with a screen
i really wish i could find a game that is just Civ altered to be a fun singleplayer game to keep playing forever
i don’t want to win the game, i just want to keep building and exploring and make number go up
This made me realize how dumb it is for sweden specifically to opt for all capitals, since we use so many letters with diacritics and it just ends up looking a bit silly
this confused me since “gård” absolutely does not have the meaning of fence/wall in modern swedish, and looking at wiktionary it seems in ancient norse it only slightly had that meaning, with other meanings being the more sensible to me “city”, “region”, and “yard”.
isn’t aberdeen even simpler? it literally has the river Dee running through it, aber-dee-n
really we just need more railways in general, many parts are literally just unable to squeeze in any more trains and yet barely anything new is being built… In a sensible world we should have started building a high speed network between the capitals 10 years ago.
sure it’s beautiful, the ocean is beautiful too, but that much open space would make me so uncomfortable. Denmark is bad enough.
in my mind that’s still forest, it’s not like most of europe’s forests are in any way natural at this point, any time you see a forest here in sweden that has a suspicious amount of oaks of the same age that’s probably a forest intended to provide lumber for ships a couple hundred years ago.
i genuinely cannot imagine such a large piece of land being 2% forest, i would lose my mind travelling through that
yeah ours are oftentime closer to convenience stores, and distributed fairly evenly so people largely just go to the closest one. Stuff like walmart is terrifyingly big, that’s what i’d consider an entire mall.
6 grocery stores for 100’000 people? here in sweden that’s not enough grocery stores for 50k!
with 100k people i’d expect at least 20 stores, if not more.
big cities are generally better to live in (at least in the USA) since there are more amenities there and people can actually get to them reliably without a car.
i’m presuming it’ll be big picture mode but less shiiiiiiit
like yeah big picture mode works well enough but it’s definitely rough around the edges, for instance it doesn’t much like it when you switch to and from steam in big picture mode.
