Europe@feddit.org•Eurovision accused of ‘encouraging manipulation’ after Israel’s near-win [Spains RTVE and Flemish VRT demand investigation into voting system]English
20·7 months agoTo add to your No 1:
I’ve heard from other people (who don’t use a good AdBlocker) that they got shown ads for the Israeli song surrounding videos about Eurovision on YouTube. Someone also mentioned that in the ads he saw the song itself got advertised, it did not explicitly mention that it is a song from Israel. I use UBlockOrigin and therefore did not see these ads myself.
I don’t care who does it - I think that blatant advertising should not be allowed. Other countries are already disadvantaged by the comparatively huge costs to partake in the song contest.

91·8 months agoShitty business behaviour. People got surprised by changes in the ‘fine print’ of mail order and internet shops. Consumers had trouble with the concept that they now in essence had two contracts. One with the shop and one with Klarna. Even if the shop didn’t deliver the goods or delivered wrong or broken goods, Klarna still demanded the purchase prize.
Klarna has a lot of automated processes. A lot of problems derived from that. People were supposed to enter a certain case number when paying - and nothing else. If people messed up by adding other info (like an invoice number/date/seller) or mistyped, Klarna’s system wasn’t able to handle it. If they couldn’t file the payment there was no other system in place to assure a correct booking. Instead consumers received payment reminders and extra reminder fees. Even when consumers showed proof of payment the system often didn’t accept it and it went on and on, in a few cases Klarna went to court about it.
The latest is Klarna’s idea wanting banking info from consumers - and by all it’s literally everything that is mentioned in your banking statements. Klarna wants the consumer to sign a declaration of release to the bank so that Klarna can access everything.

Europe@feddit.org•Cyprus court acquits five Israeli men accused of raping British womanEnglish
24·9 months agoWhat a surprise that a rape victim is not a “reliable” witness. Being attacked, suffering trauma and then you’re supposed to give a detailed report and answer questions that bring back all the memories and make you relive the whole ordeal.
Eye witnesses in general aren’t that reliable. That’s why you get 4 different descriptions if four people are questioned about the same fender bender they witnessed. Getting the colour of a sweater wrong does not mean that a person is lying or that the account in general is questionable.

11·9 months agoThey have a King
They are a heterogenous scene and therefore not uniformly organised (something to be thankful for). There’s more than one King (I haven’t read about a selfproclaimed queen though), different “Governments”, self-governing bodies… some of them cooperate, some can’t cooperate… As long as you don’t have to deal with them it sounds quite funny - They produce their own ID cards and driving licences because they do not believe in the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany. But if it exists it’s only a Ltd. Or Germany is still under military occupation. But if you encounter them irl… oh boy. And funny left as soon as some of them got their hands on weapons and actually started attacking people.

8·9 months agoNot good was yesterday when the university degree got revoked. I still had hope that that’s been a warning and the sole step against a potential opponent. Today that hope got squashed and there’s no more pretending that Erdogan won’t use every trick from the little dictator’s handbook. It’s bad news for Turkey and those citizens who were looking forward to a positive change. There are enough problems that need to be adressed and if Erdogan stays in charge will likely be ignored.
Unfortunately I feel that there won’t be real pressure put on him internationally. He’s in a comfortable position due to the war in Ukraine and the other conflicts in Syria, Israel/Palestine and so on.
You can check the Q&A at Auswärtiges Amt
For your case it’s a combi of ‘My ancestors were German Nationals…’ and ‘How can German citizenship be lost’.
I suspect a large overlap with people complaining about RATM suddenly turning woke or playing ‘We’re not gonna take it’ at rallies without ever having seen a band pic of Twisted Sister.

No, Uschi. It’s not the time for this kind of negotiations. It’s time to set an example and send a message. After the countermeasures take effect, we can still send him flowery messages (in simple language) and an old Airbus with a bow.
