I’ve understood it more as buying the politicians out. That’s the only thing that could really be “for sale”, and thankfully we picked one that isn’t (at least not in this context).

…you do know the reason that the US has a large black population right?
I’m Canadian and not shading on diversity at all but just because we have a lot of different cultures mixing together doesn’t make anyone ‘better’. There are reasons we are as diverse as we are, and most of those reasons are historically very, very bad.
I was confused by the title too but this makes sense to me, given that many people thought the conservative leader was essentially a puppet for trump.
They haven’t released his diagnosis but he had been struggling with paranoia and delusions prior. Also a long history of mental health/police contact and very recent calls from his family to hospital to get him help. This was entirely preventable if the mental health supports were adequately available.
Severe, severe mental illness. He wasn’t drunk or old.
He wasn’t. I’m not going to post his name or race here, but he has been charged and his name made public.
She donated £70,000 to the people that pushed to pass this bill.
In the words of Pedro Pascal, she is indeed a “heinous loser”
You mean it hasn’t already gone to shit??
Also as seen in my other comments from my experience liberals can’t handle someone opposing their ideas, while i admit, I see a lot of hate towards the LGBTQ+/BLM folks you simply can’t force everyone to like who you are.
So from this statement, what I’m hearing you say is that hating on LGBTQ and racialized folks is okay just because they’re existing and asking to be “liked”. Is that right? They should expect that people will hate them and try to take their rights away and they should just shut up and accept that?
To put it in another perspective, if I saw someone who looked like you and was open about their love for guns, and I made the assumption that because of the gun, they are a violent criminal, then would it be okay for me to be outwardly hateful towards you? Would it be okay for me to try to ban you from going to the gun range just because I think that makes you a violent criminal? Would you just accept that?
Do you see the parallels?
Based on the gun comments, you clearly understand what it’s like to feel like your rights are being stripped from you. So do you think it’s fair for you to minimize the feelings of others who feel the same, and who are acting out to defend themselves in the same way that you are?
To address your other comment, I completely agree that the liberals didn’t do enough to address homelessness, but I also strongly believe that incarcerating people who are struggling with mental health/substance issues is not the answer and will only lead to higher cost for taxpayers to put and keep those people in jail.
I don’t expect you to answer to any of this, btw. Just food for thought. I’m always interested to see why “the other side” thinks the way they do.
So why did you vote conservative? Was it simply “I don’t want liberal” or do you actually like their policies? (Genuine question I’m not trying to insult you)
I think Wab Kinew should go federal and take lead of that party. I think choosing an indigenous person might still be a bit too progressive for some parts of Canada but I genuinely think he could do really well.
Kind of like when COVID cleared up the air for weeks. Of course that was also awful for the economy, but it’s almost like our normal way of overconsumption is killing the environment…
Views = money/support for them. Doesn’t matter if you’re laughing or not.
I feel like people are making me feel like I’m crazy for being worried for my uncle who is a (gay) social justice professor in California but I can’t be that fucking crazy right? He’s an activist and an immigrant, he should be getting the fuck out of there.
I have very little debt and no savings, but a 10k gift would only pay for like 2-3 months of living. That’s not enough for me to sell out my fellow countrypeople and give up my most basic rights.
Hell even a million wouldn’t be enough for me to agree to be American at this point.
I’d like to point out that you’re in this mess because the US system has failed its citizens so badly that addiction is rampant and there is little to no social support for mental health or people experiencing poverty. Not to mention that your government provided those guns to the mexican cartels AND played a huge role in causing drug addiction in the US in the first place.
I have said it before and will say it again, the demand for drugs comes from WITHIN the US. Fix your social support systems and stay the fuck out of everyone else’s business.
Have we seen the Canadian airline companies jack up national flight prices like how the big grocers are jacking up Canadian product prices or nah?
I am Mexican, I deem you honorary Mexican so you may share the joy of having a not so shitty president.
I mean, I don’t live in Mexico so she’s technically also not my president but if you want I can also deem you honorary Canadian.
It’s not even safe for Americans to go to the United States at this point.
He doesn’t have any secrets, he’s literally telling everyone exactly what he intends to do. People haven’t been listening.
