China has everything to gain from a weakened America. These tariffs will hurt China short term. Long term it’s America that will be hurt the most.
Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake
A loss in sales of Chinese goods in America will hurt China.
”Trade war resistant” is probably closer to reality. It’s a major disruption that’s going to hurt their economy, but they can probably adjust. China can always sell their goods to some other country.
In grand scheme, I suppose America is more dependent on China than China is on America. It’s going to be difficult for America to replace Chinese goods.
China has a huge language barrier. Few Chinese know English well, and most non-Chinese don’t know Chinese well. It’s not going to be easy for China to capitalize on this opportunity, although it’s likely they will manage to get a piece of the cake.
European countries has less of this language barrier.
It was always a given that China would eventually dethrone US as a global super power. I never expected US to basically hand it over to them.
Finally a Trump policy I can get behind. I suppose broken clocks are right twice a day.

As John Green put it: we can no longer say that the deaths of tuberculosis are caused by a bacteria. The deaths of tuberculosis are caused by human choice. We have the choice to live in a world where millions don’t die by this treatable disease, but we chose not to.
I’m eagerly waiting for his upcoming book about this terrible disease.
