Because the headline is kinda shit: they’re no longer doing international shipments direct to consumer worth more than $1000, because US customs is making things so screwy.
I have a good friend in Canada (Saskatchewan) who has visited us in the States a couple times now. Thinking of doing the drive up this summer to visit her and support the Canadian economy (even if just a little) for a change. If I do, I’ll probably tape a sign next to my Colorado license plate that at the very least says “sorry!”
I didn’t know you use Lemmy, dad!
🤣
You’re free to do your own research
And now you’re taking a page from the anti-vax movement. No. I don’t prove your points, you do that yourself. Should be pretty easy if it’s so clearly happening.
Give some semblance of proof or you’re no better than the election deniers from 4 years ago. Hell, without even a theory you’re even worse.
Apparently that was 100% Joe Biden 🙄
Jacksonville is Florida’s most populous city. The Nashville metro area has more than double the population of San Francisco. When people talk about cities in contexts like this, they usually account for the adjacent suburbs as well, which usually has a lot more of the people. The cities may have the center and the commerce, but arbitrary lines separating it from other cities don’t mean the area is any bigger or smaller.
So what perfectly accurate data source do you propose this map be based on?
When I wrote that I was thinking of what I had in Czechia! Kind of in between bread and a dumpling, not stuffed, and great to mop up some gravy.
Don’t get me wrong, I live a good pierogi, but I was trying to stick to the simple staples
Some places eat rice. Others prefer bread. Or dumplings (but not necessarily stuffed - like Eastern Europe). Or noodles, which themselves can be made from all kinds of things and are somehow different between Asian noodles and Italian pasta. Or cous cous. Or potato. Or… Or…
We have a ton of different carbs in this world. Some take more preparation than others when they get on the plate. That doesn’t mean we’re comparing apples and oranges (which, ironically, would actually be a great map as well)
I’m not Canadian, but I’ve previously known that in the US you only have to live in the same state as the district you’re representing. An argument in favor of that concept (that I admittedly just made up) is that congressional boundaries get rewritten every decade. In theory, this could be used to push a rep out of Congress if someone really wanted to, if they were required to live in district. State boundaries are much more stable so this is pretty good immunity to that.
